Pet Funerals
“What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes part of us.” — Helen Keller
Losing a pet creates a gaping hole that causes real grief. Often, pet death is a child’s first experience with death. Teaching them to not fear death is an important life lesson.
As with people, there are options such as backyard burial, cemetery burial, or cremation. Your veterinarian is your first contact when a pet dies. They will handle transport to the pet cemetery or crematory. If you choose cremation, there are a variety of urns, plaques, statues, and even jewelry to place the remains in. For backyard burial, there are practical considerations to be made. Buried utility lines, water sources, and burial containers must be addressed.
Pet funerals can be meaningful and comforting. Having the opportunity to say goodbye as you desire will have a huge impact on your healing. Let me help you with dignity and love. The tone of the funeral can be somber or celebratory.
“How lucky we are to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” — Winnie the Pooh
Services Include
This serves as a general guideline. All services are customizable and will be tailored to your specific needs.
Initial Consultation: One 30-minute session. I’ll listen to your needs, expectations, and desires then we’ll discuss how I may best serve you. If I cannot meet any of your needs, I will direct you to a service or vendor that will be able to help you. This meeting can take place via phone, Zoom, or in-person.
Pet Planning: During our 2-hour session, we’ll discuss available options and costs. Pets may be buried on your property, in a pet cemetery, or cremated. The options for memorials and cremains are almost limitless. Pet funerals, or celebrations of life, can be conducted at your home, dog park, or any significant place allowing family, friends, and fur friends to gather to say goodbye.
Transport: Delivering a deceased pet to a veterinarian or other provider for disposition is traumatic. Collecting remains from a veterinarian with other precious fur babies around is painful. I will transport your beloved pet for you.
Officiant: If you decide to honor your pet’s life with a ceremony, I would be privileged to officiate.
